THIS CONCERNS YOU AND YOUR LIFE
IN CRASTER OR DUNSTAN

The future of the Playpark and the Memorial Hall is at stake.

Your chance to make an impact on Thursday 8th. June.

(Correction the meeting is on Tuesday, June 8th)

The Memorial Hall Trust and the Craster Community Development Trust have been merged to form the Craster Community Trust.  You may think that this has no impact on your life, but I ask you to consider how things could change if this Trust fails.

The Trust is a body that can have a serious effect for good on the life of our community. Able to access external funding sources it can revitalise the Hall, and refresh the Play Park.  It can fight for our mobile phone reception, and work with the Parish Council for better parking arrangements.  It can operate the village website in the interests of our businesses as well as individuals, and it can organise good discounts for bulk purchases – for example for heating oil.  The possibilities are endless and limited only by the imagination and energy of those participating.

But that’s the point – it needs people to participate to be effective, indeed to have any effect at all.  If everyone sits back and waits

for someone else to do it, we shall have to close the Memorial Hall, and dismantle the Play Park.  With no official body to support it the website will also wither on the vine.  And those other initiatives will simply never materialise.  These are not threats these are realities, and it is important that all residents within the area understand this.

So that you have a chance to have your say in the working of the new Trust, you are invited to attend the first AGM on Tuesday 8th June at 7:00pm.

The purpose of the AGM is to bring the new Trust to life by electing a committee and deciding how it is to manage its affairs in the interests of the community.  In particular it will have to make arrangements for the management of the Memorial Hall and the village Play Park.

This is an appeal therefore for everyone who cares at all about this community and its facilities to come along to the Memorial Hall on June 8th at 7:00pm, to participate in the meeting and to make your views known.  You might even be prepared to volunteer to help.  If you really can’t come find someone who is and let them know your views. But if no-one is prepared to participate everyone will have to accept that it will be the end of much of the fabric of this community – much of what makes Craster and Dunstan good places to live.

PLEASE SUPPORT THE NEW TRUST AND HELP IN ITS WORK.
